Closure: The Mind's eye fills in the gaps of a shape even if there is no outline.
Description
This composition utilizes gray scale values and closure. The gray tones allow for depth, so the cones appear to recede into space as if they are far away from the view or the other side of the sphere. Texture was also used to give volume to the cones. There are lines cut into the paper that curve around the cone, making it look more rounded. Because less contrast means the objects appear to go back, the darkest cones come forward and the lightest go back.
